USA Olympic Basketball Team Receives Tiffany + Co. Rings For Scoring Gold In London

Iconic brand Tiffany & Co. gave members of the gold medal winning Olympic team their 2012 Championship rings during the NBA All-Star weekend.

Tiffany & Co. has been partnered with the Team USA since 2010 and has created awards such as the Vince Lombardi (for the Superbowl), NBA Championship, MLB World Series and US Open trophies.

Tom O’Rourke, VP of Business Sales stated:

The opportunity to be a part of the Olympic movement and USA Basketball and to help celebrate the athletic accomplishments of the men’s and women’s teams works really well for who we are as a company.”

Of course members of the Olympic team which include Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Kevin Durant were more than excited to receive them. Durant stated:

I really can’t explain what it feels like to look at it and then go back to the start of training camp in Las Vegas and up to the last game. Guys sacrificed and we were all in it for each other. That’s what this symbolizes. It’s very important to me and it’s a blessing to have this. Hopefully I’ll get another one.”

Russell Westbrook Talks Style and Fashion With V Man Magazine

Oklahoma City Thunder Star Russell Westbrook has emerged as a fashion icon ( I am using that loosely) as of late. From the infamous red framed glasses to ultra snug, colorful shirts and slim fitting pants, its safe to say he has his own style. The NBA baller recently sat down with V Man Magazine to discussed his style and fashion sense. Peep the excerpts below.

On where he shops (outside of Oklahoma):

I do it on the road when we go to big cities—New York, L.A. I also do a lot of online shopping from places like TopMan, FarFetch, and Urban Outfitters.

Designers he likes:

Right now I’m really into Paul Smith, but I wear everything. I’m into cutoff jean jackets, leather stuff…

If players resent his style reputation:

They do try to clown on me from time to time, but I don’t pay them any mind. If anything, though, they’re trying to figure me out, to see what I’m going to wear next.

If there is any pressure to dress up off the court:

I don’t worry about that because I dress naturally. I don’t [intentionally] get dressed up a lot—like, I’m in sweats right now.

Stance Socks Launches NBA Legends Collection

Hot off the heels of announcing a collaboration with Dwyane Wade for a new collection, Stance Socks has released the NBA Legends collection. The collection pays homage to Bill Walton, Dennis Rodman, Kenny Smith and others.

According to the website,

Stance proudly presents a unique collection of styles that pay homage to NBA Legends such as Larry Bird, Dr. J and Bill Walton to name a few. We may not be able to walk in their shoes, but we can now theoretically wear their socks and channel some of the greatness they created on the court.

Kevin Durant Is GQ Magazine’s Fashion Correspondent For 2013 All-Star Weekend

Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant is acting as GQ Magazine’s Fashion Correspondent for the 2013 NBA All-Star weekend festivities. The baller will report the latest athlete fashions via Instagram pics, behind the scenes videos and interviews.

Prior to Sunday’s All-Star Game, Durant and the GQ fashion team will rank the three best dressed athletes with the winner becoming the MSP: Most Stylish Player.

Kevin stated:

Bring your A-game, fellas. And don’t take it personal. May the freshest man win.”

My money is on Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade or Lebron James. But New York Knicks Tyson Chandler stays pretty fly. Should be interesting.

Dwyane Wade Partners Up With Stance, Launches Sock Collection

Dwayne Wade has become quite the fashion maven so to speak and now pieces of his style will be available to the masses. The Miami Heat star has partnered with Stance, a California sock company to create the Wade sock collection.

In collaboration with his stylist and Brand Wade creative consultant, Catelynn Barnett (who infamously put him in hot pink pants and has crafted his Miami Vice style) helped create a variety of styles for the upcoming collection.

Launching in 2010, Stance is a relatively young company that has quickly established a following. CEO Jeff Kearl stated:

We are very excited to team up with Dwyane Wade to launch the Wade Collection. Wade has had an undeniable influence on the NBA and on fashion, and we are thrilled to collaborate with someone that is so passionate about everything that he is involved in. This collection really speaks for itself.”

In a press release Wade stated:

I’m thrilled to partner with Stance on this new endeavor since fashion and personal expression is something I take pride in. Socks are often overlooked in fashion, but I’ve always believed that style is about taking risks. Socks have the amazing ability to transform any ensemble into a bold fashion statement that reflects your personality and mood.”

Socks has definitely gained some popularity in recent years with athletes like Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III,Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark and Dwyane Wade bringing them to the forefront. Should be a very interesting collection.

The collection will feature casual and dress socks. No official photos or release date have been announced yet.

The Golden State Warriors Will Wear Adidas Short Sleeve Jersey’s

Adidas is pushing the sports fashion envelope for the Golden State Warriors. The athletic brand has designed a short sleeved jersey for the team to wear on Friday, February 22 when they take on the San Antonio Spurs. Traditionally, players wear tank top style jerseys but the technology allows the short sleeve style to be lighter than the tank.

According to Adidas, the uniform (including shorts) is made with 60% recycled material and ClimaCool venaliation and is more than 20% lighter than the regular uniforms.

Lawrence Norman, VP of Global Adidas Basketball stated:

Lightweight is a characteristic athletes have been asking for from sneakers to uniforms. They believe lighter is faster and we agree. Players are already wearing compression shirts under their jerseys. If you look at colleges, there’s a lot of college players wearing shirts under their jerseys. Rec players are wearing t-shirts instead of tanks. There is a legitimate trend in the marketplace.”

He also added:

Players on every court like to have a unique sense of style,” said Lawrence Norman, vice president, adidas global basketball. “We were excited to work side-by-side for the last 18 months with the Warriors, one of the NBA’s youngest and most exciting teams, to develop this unique uniform system that helps maintain peak player performance while ensuring comfort, fit and style.”

Golden State wont be the only team to wear the alternate jersey. Adidas is in discussions with 5-10 teams (unnamed of course) about adopting the new jerseys. Not to fret, fans will also have an opportunity to wear the short sleeve jerseys as well. The jerseys are available for pre-sell on NBAStore.com and Warriorsteamstore.com

Are Lebron James and Dwyane Wade Men In Tights? Miami Heat Stars In New Miami Ballet Campaign

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are new unofficial men in tights. Kinda. The Miami Heat stars have teamed up with the Miami City Ballet to celebrate 25 years of basketball and ballet. James and Wade were paired with two of the dance companies principal dancers and sisters, Jeanette and Patricia Delgaldo for a series of artistic photograghs showing off athleticism in the world of dance and basketball. For the shoot, James was paired with Jeanette and Wade with Patricia. Both sisters have been praised for their dance ability by the New York Times.

Dwyane Wade stated about the campaign:

It’s always good for our fans to see something different out of us; to see us interact in a different way. We feel at times we’re like graceful dancers in the air so it’s good to put the two worlds together. Miami’s about versatility—the whole culture. It’s good that we can bring that into sports.”

LeBron James on the pairing:

It’s very artsy. It’s great to have a couple of pictures with them in their poses—poses I’d never be able to get into!”

Both the Miami Heat and Miami City Ballet are champions. The Heat won the NBA championship in 2006 and 2012. The Miami City Ballet is known as one of the best ballet companies in the world with over 90 ballets under its belt. The photos will be used to promote both the art and entertainment district in Miami.

Ryan Lochte Gets Infamous Pink’s Hot Dog X Reality Show Premieres In April

Olympic swimmer and 11-time medalist Ryan Lochte became a permanent fixture on the Pink’s Hot Dog menu when the eatery named a hot dog after him. According to reports, The ‘Ryan Lochte‘ hot dog combo includes two stretch hot dogs with mustard, chili, French Fries and nacho cheese with a side of “Olympic Champion” onion rings.

This combo doesnt sound like its healthy for a swimmer’s body but sounds tasty nevertheless.

Ryan stated about his combo:

I’ve got to hand it to Pink’s, they’re dead on with this combo, I eat constantly, so the fact that it’s not just one hot dog is awesome (seriously, I could eat five). And I guess the onion rings are supposed to represent the Olympic rings, which is cool. All that for eight bucks, COME ON!”

He tweeted a picture of his namesake combo:

Ryan is in good company. The restaurant also has hot dogs named after Martha Stewart and Rosie O’Donnell. Ryan’s reality show ‘What Would Ryan Lochte Do?’ premieres in April on the E! Network. I have a feeling this will be Jersey Shore. *sneaking suspicion* I do however think it will be very entertaining.

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco Attends Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Show

Superbowl winning Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has busy. After winning the Superbowl last week, going to Disneyland and making a host of appearances the NFL baller found time to get fitted for and attend the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Show with wife Dana.

Flacco was fitted by the designer himself and ET was on hand to capture the session. The QB later told the New York Times,

I wanted to give my wife the opportunity to be pampered a little bit. I wanted her get some outfits and get her makeup done.

On his personal style:

I’m usually pretty laid back, going into a laid-back atmosphere every day for work, it doesn’t require this stuff too often. Just jeans and a nice comfortable shirt.”
